🎆 Stay Safe This Bonfire Night 🎆

Dear residents,

As Bonfire Night approaches, your local Safer Neighbourhood Team would like to remind everyone to enjoy the celebrations safely and responsibly.

Fireworks & the Law:

• Fireworks can only be used between 7pm and 11pm, except:
  • Bonfire Night (5 Nov): until midnight
  • New Year’s Eve, Diwali, Chinese New Year: until 1am
• It is illegal to:
  • Set off fireworks in public places (streets, parks, etc.)
  • Sell fireworks to anyone under 18
  • Possess fireworks in public if you're under 18
• Only licensed professionals may use Category 4 fireworks.

Safety Tips:

• Attend organised displays where possible.
• If celebrating at home:
  • Keep fireworks in a closed box.
  • Light one at a time, at arm’s length.
  • Never return to a lit firework.
  • Keep pets indoors and inform neighbours.
  • Have water nearby for emergencies.

Be Considerate: Fireworks can be distressing for pets, the elderly, and vulnerable residents. Please be mindful of others and avoid late-night disturbances.

Local Patrols: Your Safer Neighbourhood Team will be on patrol throughout the week to help ensure a safe and enjoyable Bonfire Night for all.

If you witness unsafe or antisocial behaviour involving fireworks, please report it via: 101 or 999 for emergencies.
